I used to have one like that, except it was a dog. It was interesting for about 10 seconds.

I had a cat then someone gave me the dog and a penguin so I ended up with a small zoo! As you say though, only temporarily interesting except to small kittens and visitors who'd been on the sauce. But equipped with Alexa software? Could be a different story.

I do agree

Alexa can almost become a (different) member of a family.
And this can only become more so over time

Giving Alexa a more visually appealing interface can only be a good thing

An element of choice would be good. I actually like the way the Echo and the Dots look, and I'm nowhere near so keen on the appearance of Google Home (I was the one called it an air freshener and while I can see that might appeal to some, I can also imagine people yelling at a Glade plugin for half an hour before realising!). I'd be interested to see something like a 'tech' range, a blended-into-the-decor range, and a 'cute'/domestic pet range. Someone suggested a kind of interchangeable housing option which might do the job. Cat for the kids' bedroom, plant pot for the front room, techy tower for wherever you want a techy tower.

I checked the sleep timer instruction and I don't think I've changed what I say so my Dot really has reverted to a more formal response :(

Problem solved! If you activate the sleep timer from an audio book, you get the formal response, if you do it from music, you get 'Ok, I'll stop playing in *** minutes'. So glad to have that sorted :)

Something totally new happened this morning.

Said "good morning" to my echo and it never said good morning back, it just said the fact of the day.
I tried again in case I missed it. Nope, no good morning :(

Week ago, we had a good morning but no message.
Now we have a message but no good morning!

LOL
:)

Same here. Maybe she's in a bad mood today.

Yes, Greeting and Todays fact all back today. :)

I just however really really wish for some variety.
It's like in a game, you think, ohh a character, let's go and talk to them, so far so good.

You ask your question and get a reply, still seems good, and believable.

You then ask the same character the same question and get the same exact answer.
You try 5 more time, yes it's just repeating the same reply.

It would give such an enhanced feeling of personality and understanding if this could be worked on some more. Not rocket science stuff, but just some level of awareness of being asked things, perhaps multiple times.
