How to get the alexa app to work in Rewp. of Ireland

Folks... HELP PLEASE.
I just received an echo dot here in the republic of Ireland  BUT... I cannot get the ALEXA app to download.... it says: Not available for your country. Pleas help if poss, I need to get this as I am at 72 not in the best of health and the voice recognistion is vital for me so it can tell me the time.

I've done a bit of a search and found this on an Irish discussion board:

The Alexa app isn't available on the Irish Apple App Store, however it is relatively easy to temporarily change your app store to the UK App Store and download it from there after which you can change it back to the Irish app store. https://www.boards.ie/b/thread/2057668556

I believe it will 'think' it's in the UK though so you might have trouble with location-specific things like weather.
