Need someone to please test Echo Remote as I may have a bad one...

Would like someone to test Echo remote. Perhaps I have a bad remote or bad Echo. I have paired and re-paired. Does not matter. Remote works intermittently.
Pls try: Test remote to see if echo recognizes it. Just press mic button and wait for beep sound.
Open remote battery door & separate batteries w/finger 4 2 seconds. Let go. Of course battery connection is lost and then regained
Now will remote work? Mine wont until i say alexa directly to unit. Then remote works as normal.
If I hit remote with my hand in certain places I think it does the same thing as disconnect the battery (a short or something) then it will not work again UNTIL I say ALEXA directly to unit.
If remote sits idle for some time it may also not be recognized...
Thanks, Peter

Have you replaced the batteries yet? My remote was acting up, I hardly used it so I figured batteries were OK. Nevertheless, they were cheapo Amazon batteries, so I replaced them, and problem solved.

When my remote plays up, as advised by Amazon I reboot my Dot. It would be the same process for Echo. Unplug at the mains, wait 3 seconds, then plug back in.
