Is the Amazon Echo always listening?

Hi everyone!

I put together a thorough look at the Amazon Echo — in particular whether or not it is always listening, along with answers to a lot of common questions I've received from people like "Does it store its recordings?", "Can you delete the voice data it has?", "Can you prove it really only sends audio to Amazon after hearing the wake word?"... etc.

Quite a few of those questions have a lot of misinformation and hype around them, so I wanted to make a post which I'll keep up to date with all the relevant info as more comes to hand.

For now, I'd love feedback and thoughts on it all! I hope it helps give you an easier response to those who ask you the above questions
