Alexa and TP-Link Smart Outlet Mini NOT Working
« on: March 02, 2017, 11:36:53 pm »
Outlet Mini (via Alexa and the Kasa app/skill stopped working today (March 2).  I can use the button on the end of the device to turn it on/off but the Kasa app on my phone nor Alexa Skill will work the lamp.  Dozens of complaints on the Alexa Kasa Skill posting and complaining on the same day.  Anyone here having this problem?  I'm waiting to chat with TP-Link ts.

Mike, not only did I not see before I posted the topic, I STILL don't see it.  I could see it with your link but it's not showing up when I open the forum.  And I too tried to disable/enable the skill.  I'm ok.  Only have one light and I can turn it on with the device.  I'm just glad to know it's on their end, which after reading all the complaints, figured it had to be.

Monica, you did not see it in THIS forum, because it is posted in another forum here called "Smart devices and gadgets".  Another reason you did not see it is perhaps you don't open the "magic door" to see all new messages in all forums here (and there are quite a few forums here)  When you get to this forum next time, click on the tab at top/right of first page labeled Recent Unread Topics .

Now, the problem with doing this if you never have done it, is you will see a jillion posts you have not opened. The best thing to do is globally mark all in each forum as being read, (with a  single click).  Once all are flagged this way for YOU, next time you click tab to see Unread Topics is that you will just see the newest ones in each forum you have not read, and usually it is just a few each day. This is the best way to be sure you don't miss any message in any forum.  I don'r read ones I am not interested in, that's for sure. (You need to mark ones you don't open as read as you did before; easy)

Anyway, I want to go add new info to my original post, so go see if you can find it in the Smart Devices forum; how I described above.

Finally, my smart home system has recovered from the Kasa app/Alexa crash of the other day.  Full details of the recovery are found at end of this other thread:

Whew, I'm glad all I did was disable and re-enable the skill.  All was well when I got up in the morning :)  But, I only have one device (a lamp) and altho I didn't NEED it, I could have just turned it on/off with the button on the end of my smart outlet mini.
