At last! Phone calls. I hope all the other Echo devices get that capability too. It does seem like it only works between Echo devices and not any phone numbers.
$229 for the Echo Show is a bit pricey. I think I'll skip it for now. Let's see what else comes down the pipe later.

looks interesting but I doubt I get one.  I would need more information - especially about the voice calling.  Not too sure about only making calls between echo devices and app.  It would be limiting.

This is basically a kindle fire 7" hooked to an Echo. Its got a front-facing camera too. Way to go, Amazon, you've killed a product you just introduced a month ago.

Let me know when I can finally control my kindle paperwhite though Alexa.

That's what it looks like to me... Internet intercom... not phone as it says... but maybe that opens doors to other VOIP type options with our existing Echo devices... If not, I may buy one of the newer devices as they release... but I'd rather just stick with the Dot's for the simplicity and size.

If the calls are between Echo Shows only then it's quite limiting indeed.
And as someone living outside the US (I'm in France), those new features might not be functional even with workarounds if I import one of those (from the UK ?).
I'll skip and stick to my regular Echo for now, for which I hope new interesting features will come (contextual conversation and multiple voice recognition like Google Home)

I will add my big YAWN to this as well.  Anyone with a tablet and Skype have this capability, and it is more flexible and NOT stationary.  Those of us with iPads use FaceTime, the "gold standard" of this sort of thing. 

Amazon is spreading itself kind of thin lately; first a Look (?), now a Show, and of all things,  GROCERY stores.
