Won't respond to 'relaxing music' anymore
« on: August 04, 2017, 03:08:29 am »
I used to be able to ask Alexa to play 'relaxing music' but now all I get is the response 'i couldn't find any relaxing songs'. Same with 'relaxing piano music', 'relaxing classical music' etc. It used to respond to all these??

could be just a server issue, there really is nothing you can do on your end.  just keep trying.  I just tried the same commands you posted and no problems

No problem here except Alexa and I differ on the description of "relaxing music".  I got some space age sounding stuff from Atmospheric Electronic.  "Relaxing piano music" was much better.  I'm a Prime member with Prime Music (not Unlimited Music).

Thanks guys. As you say likely a server problem... I hope!

This is getting frustrating. Day three and still not responding to 'relaxing music' of any type (e.g. piano, classical etc). Always used to. And I have Amazon Unlimited.  >:(

That's a double whammy.  A Prime Member AND Unlimited subscriber :(  Call Amazon.  If the first tech can't help, tell him you want a supervisor.

No one told you the likely solution, so I will.  Unplug the Alexa device, wait FIVE minutes, then plug it back in and try it now.  Basically, turn it off, turn it back on same as you would do for a computer -- this thing IS a type of computer.  This is something you always should do when these things stop working right.

BTW, my Dot played relaxing music station; no issues.

waiting because of server issues was a likely solution, just was not the solution.  Anyway I was about to post the same since after three days nothing changed  :-)  Though if the original post would have mentioned they already waited two days...

You did a good job of giving solution.  Anyway, who says mine is the one?  Seems logical to say turn it off and back on covers a lot of ills with gadgets.

Mine won't do this either. Try asking for "music for meditation", or ask for one of Amazon's standard playlists by name, such as "Classical for meditation", "Classical for sleep" or "New Age for sleep". Shuffle so you don't always get the same music.
