Doesn't listen

My echo dot doesn't listen to me at all everything else works just won't listen red microphone is lit up but no red ring what is going on can anyone help me

I'll give a shot at answering this but with no punctuation it's kinda hard to understand.  If you see the red microphone lit up (in red) that means the mic is OFF.  So no, it's not listening.  Push the mic button and the red light will turn off.  Your Dot should now be ready to "listen".  I'm curious as to what else works if you can't give it commands (because the mic is turned off).

Out of curiosity I turn my mic off. But the red ring AND the red light on mic icon are both on though. That's weird. I also tested if it will play tunein when I play it from my alexa app and it does. So everything still works on alexa app even if the mic is off is what OP basically means.
