Echo Dot for AirBNB
« on: August 28, 2017, 05:05:06 pm »
Hello all,

I'm gonna be renting my basement and one of the perks I wanted to offer to the short term renter was an echo dot. Would you say its a good idea? If so, How can I separate it from the rest of the echo and block it from making purchases, meaning the renter can only control that one.

Thank you

Don't do it.  When I stay at an AirBNB I bring a Dot or a Tap, so what I need to know is that there is good/fast internet signal available for Alexa and our iPad streaming.  If you have good internet let folks know it, and even mention to bring a Dot if you have one!  Too many AirBNB locations have pathetic and often unusable internet service.

Wow you are a very gracious host. I suppose you can link that dot on a separate amazon account. You know like an account that is only meant for that. I suggest you don't put your real info on them. For obvious reason. I always do that. I don't trust putting any info on any device I own.

The account I am using was the one I used before but I made sure I changed my address with a fake one and remove my credit card info. I also use a fake name LOL.

I have 100/100 but I feel its too slow since I have so many things connected... If anything i could go a bit up. thanks for that.

That's a great idea! I can definitely do that. I just wanna offer them a way to stream music or something similar for them to relax etc.. Just finding ways to be able to get good reviews a more reservations :)

100/100 may be fine unless you have a bunch of kids streaming stuff all the time.  Having lots of things connected doesn't slow things down, but using lots of data hungry things at same time can.
