Is a Caller ID subscription from the phone company required to identify incoming calls when using the forthcoming Echo Connect?

I would imagine so, since the device connects to your phone line. Basically it's a wireless phone that will pick up/hang up by voice and transfers the call to an Echo device. I will most likely get one. But I do wonder about the call quality, specifically the duplex speakerphone and latency.

I've got one on order for my 91 year old mother who is blind. Although she only has to push one button for speed dialing her kids' numbers, it is still difficult for her to locate the buttons.

This should make it much easier for her to use.
