YAY!! after a very long wait it is finally here in the latest update and is awsome.
I should also imagine inline with the release of echo show end of october in the coming few weeks should see video support and possibly the abillity to control the fire tv.

yes the new version is 2.1.366.5 updated 2nd october
if problems maybe uninstall and reinstall your app
maybe i should add that is the version on play store for android

None of my versions (Echo or Dots) look like that. Oh - do you mean the app rather than the device software?

I think my app is fully up to date on version 1.24.2698.0 bridge version 2.1.368.0..its from the apple app store

However, my devices, all three are on 588443520 and I think they should be on 588443320  (odd numbering!!). well according to Amazon, who say I will get upgraded in the next few days

I think Amazon support is talking rubbish there. 588443520 is actually newer than version 588443320 which they are saying you need. I am on the same version as you and have Calling, Messaging, and Drop In working after updating the Alexa app on Android.

That's what mine are on. Can't see why they'd regress the numbering but I guess we wait and see!

Right, after the StevenR comment I called amazon again.

This time I got...its not supported on your ipad...have you got a mobile.

yes but its a blackberry - work, not my fault.

Used my daughters iPhone and its all working - yah -blimmin Amazon support  - could have had this working days ago!

well i used it last night and it works great
firstly check for updates on the app from the app store
then check on the drop in or calls on the app tp see who you can call
They must have an alexa and be a contact on your phone
if i ring myself from alexa it rings my iphone ,which is the reason i bought one in the
first place as my wife cannot use the phone easily, so now its Alexa call chris ,great

also to use this feature they only need the alexa app not the echo, e.g. i have echo linked to my app so as you say just say alexa call darren and it does. i also have alexa app on wifes account just linked to basic amazon account in wifes name and no echo and can say alexa call louann and calls or messages her mobile.

yes the calls are free as they are made over wifi and not a phone network
