Can't call wifes cell phone, it calls her Alexa app instead
« on: September 30, 2017, 01:17:12 pm »
Calling phones works great!  But since my wife and I both have the Alexa app on our phones it won't call our phone numbers when we ask it to call us by name, instead it calls the phone app and the 2nd alexa in the other room.

How can we get around this?

Are you using the correct terms?  You had to register a mobile number when you setup the calling and it uses that address book for the names and numbers.

Have you tried saying Call "wifes" MOBILE?

I have the app on my phone and can call my own phone by saying call "Name" mobile.

I haven't tried using the word mobile yet, I'll try that tonight.  We both have the Alexa app on our phones and we share the same account.  We used to use this so each phone could drop in on either of the 2 echos.  This worked great.  Now with the new calling feature I can say call "so and so" and will ask us which phone we want to call from and then make the call.  But if I use her name or my name, it just rings us using the Alexa App while simultaneously ringing on the 2nd echo (whichever one is opposite of the one we called from).

I'd like to remove that feature all together since there is no longer a point in calling the echo app if I can call her phone number instead.
