Echo Show voice is muffled

Echo Show voice is muffled

I've had an Echo Dot  for a while and wanted an Echo Show to use with our security cameras. I bought it the night before Thanksgiving and received it yesterday. I set it up last night, but the voice on the Show isn't nearly as crisp and clear as the Echo Dot. It sounds muffled.  With the Dot we could hear and understand it across the room. With the Show we seem to have to be pretty close to it to understand it. Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this?

Ok, never mind. I hadn't taken the plastic film off the speaker. Duh! :)

It is still very boomy though. It could do with the mid frequencies boosting a little and a bass cut when it speaks.
