Dropin only activates one device
« on: January 02, 2018, 05:24:20 am »
Hi,

I have 2 echo dots 1 named kitchen 1 named after my daughter and can drop in on either device locally.

My sister also has 2 dots named after her girls.

Now if my sister drops in on me only my daughter's spot ever activates. It's the same if I drop in on her only 1 (always the same one) of her dots activates.

This is a problem for two reasons. First, we were hoping the girls could chat with each other, but also if anyone tries to drop in on me the dot in my daughter's bedroom activates and so goes mostly unseen. I cant just swap them over as I got a white one with the wall mount for the kitchen and my daughter's one is black.

So my question is does anyone know how the devices are chosen / ordered?

Thanks

In the Alexa app each device has a drop in option - they get enabled individually.

Incidentally how are you preventing drop in from anyone other than yours sister's family?

Yes I have it enabled for each device.

By default contacts are NOT enabled for drop in, so I only allowed my Sister (which does enable her whole household).
