Drop in not working across accounts
« on: January 09, 2018, 04:05:41 pm »
It was working two hours ago, and now it's not.
My Wife has an account, and her Echo is attached to that one.
I have since added 3 Dots to the house under my account.

If I switch accounts, drop in works fine.
I have the household feature turned on for both accounts.
The device names are generic (living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc...)

When on diff accounts, I get the "couldn't find that device or contact name" reply when calling out a specific device, but if I drop in from her Echo to my account name, it seems to pick the last installed Dot to drop in on.

From her Echo, "Alexa, drop in on Chaosmstr" ... the Dot in the bedroom picks up, not the kitchen or the living room.
Can't find a way to change the default Drop In device for an account.

Any suggestions?

In the Alexa app, logged in on the account that doesn't work, make sure that you have drop in turned on and given permission to the other account to drop into your account.

To do this, go in the app, press the chat bubble icon at the bottom. Then press the person icon at the top right. Press My Profile and you can see who can drop in on you.
Amazon's UI in the app really sucks. This section of the settings is so incredibly un-intuitive that it almost doesn't even exist.

But then, since you said it was working fine 2 hours ago and not now, do what every 1st level tech support will tell you. Turn it off and turn it back on.

Rebooted the entire network including the Echos, and the issue persists.
I can switch accounts and drop in, but I cannot drop in across accounts in the same household.

Are the individuals associated with both accounts included in the Amazon household setting? You should check this setting for both accounts and make sure that both names appear for each account. This might be the reason behind your issue. I stress might
