Alexa Repeats Reminders Too Many Times

I have an Amazon Tap Second Gen.  For some reason Alexa repeats reminders 6 or 8 times and sometimes more.  Alexa used to repeat reminders only twice.  Is there any way I can fix this?  I read up on how to do the factory reset.  It says "Press Microphone off and Volume down buttons simultaneously".  Is microphone off the talk button on the front of the speaker?  When I press it and the volume down buttons together the device won't reset.    :(
