So right!  The Echo door is now opening and the little Echo bubble is expanding to include control of home automation, digital encoding of voice data and wirelessly tranferring it to a myriad of apps and devices.  Shopping and To Do lists are first with more coming.  The potential of this intelligent Alexa in "Pringle Can" is being realized.  Features are being added almost weekly...this is exciting!

Glad to be a new member of this forum!  Thanks for starting it.

The IFTTT folks have no direct contact point...what's up with that?
I cannot log on using my GMAIL account and there's no way to notify them or such.
Not good.

I think adding IFTTT is great. Right now they only have limited "IF" functions from the Echo. I hope in the future they allow us to push info to the Echo in the "THEN" part...
(keeping fat fingers crossed...)

It's been a long time since I visited the ifttt site for Amazon Echo.    They now apparently allow you to Say a specific phrase.  Example: If You say "alexa trigger find phone", then call my phone at (your phone number)   This is a huge addition because most of the functionality was with the "to do list" and the "Shopping List"  I will be creating many more ifttt recipes with "Alexa trigger" ................. commands.  Loving this new functionality

That unleashes a lot of potential. I only wish that Echo can also be the "action" instead of only the "trigger". For example, if a weather warning is the trigger, I would like the action to make Alexa speak "weather alert"

I just create the following ifttt recipes

"Alexa, trigger I lost my phone"            Rings my phone
"Alexa, trigger the heat to 68               Nest moves temp to 68 degrees

Having fun with this.

As soon as I get the Garageio I plan to add

"Alexa, trigger open main garage door"  Garageio opens garage door

My experience with IFTTT so far is limited, and I was not pleased that asking to hear my to-do list made my phone ring.  But, the trigger function sounds like it can do the job correctly, so can you share your recipe for "Alexa, trigger I lost my phone" ?  THX.

If you go to iftt.com and search "Alexa trigger" you will find several you can add.

Thanks, and I also saw an email from IFTTT about the new triggers today.

I wonder if I can make phone triggers for mine and also my wife's phone?  We'll see.  Wife suggested I also set a trigger for Alexa to find my glasses!  Eyeglasses with a GPS chip; that would be nice. . . . and handier than an Apple watch!

Yes, you can use triggers for different phones. Just use a different trigger word.
i.e. Alexa, trigger call phone number one. (and set up IFTTT to use the phrase "phone number one"
And do the same for Alexa, trigger call phone number two, etc.

George Jetson, you may already know this by now, but you don't need to use IFTTT to have Alexa to open your Garageio door; just enable the Alexa Skill for Garageio. Once you do this, you can say things like:

“Alexa, tell Garageio to close my [name] door”
“Alexa, tell Garageio to open my [name] door”
“Alexa, ask Garageio to tell me about my garage doors”
“Alexa, ask Garageio if my doors are open”
