Amazon App menu on cell phone versus Amazon Alexa menu on Amazon

I have noticed the amazon app on my cell phone contains the contact information and the screen can be swiped to reveal a function menu i.e. home, settings, music and books.. .

When I go to my amazon alexa account online  it only displays the menu.  No contact or communication information is given.

Is the alexa app on my android cell phone the only way to manage my contacts and connections. ??

Is the alexa app on my android cell phone intended and designed to be the main interface for setting up communication
functions for my Echo Show.

It seems that setting up contacts and communication for my Echo Show can only be done through the Alexa App on my Android cell phone....

Am I correct ??  Why was it designed like this ??

thanks in advance for your help

Because you need a data connection aka phone subscription to make calls.

It's the only way you can add contact through cellphone. Nothing else.
