Everyone who's stuck on this Software(got another Forum going on the Official Amazon site) have tried this numerous times and also turning off the router waiting 30 minutes then plugging back in...nothing.

I'm more inclined to think I've got the latest software on the Echo just not showing on the APP due to the fact everything is working.

But thanks for the input

The official word from Amazon to get an update is to press the Mic button so that the top ring is red. Leave it that way for a few hours and the update should come through.

The reason is simple. The Echo assumes it is in use if you are speaking to it or if there are other noises or sounds near by, whether it's from a TV, radio, neighbors, pets, traffic noise, loud refrigerator/appliances, etc. After all, the Echo is constantly listening for its wake word. If you mute the Mic, it will hear nothing so it will assume that it is not in use. When it is not in use, that is when it will go out and fetch updates.

Well at least I know I don't snore then!

I have a Tap, an Echo and two Echo Shows.  The only devices that were 601481220 were the Echo Shows up until today. Today all have the same software number. So they quietly did it last night on their own with no fiddling from me.

You probably have another to go - one of mine is on a 608 etc etc version as of early hours of Thursday. None of the others yet though; still 601.

My Echo 2nd gen arrived Tuesday, and updated overnight from to 608490620. First impressions are that audio seems crisper and less muddy. Anyone else noticed an improvement?

All my devices but one have the 608 update.  I have waited a couple of days and no update on the one echo (my original device).  I just went and did what you suggest, and I'll let you know in a few hours if it worked.

Suddenly, after watching closely for a week I guess... all of my Dots updated during the night or early morning and all are now at 608490720. I have a Full Size echo but it has  608488620. It shows to be the most current available as well. All of these updates have occurred just within the last 24 hours on mine.
