I'm waiting for a bluetooth adapter to arrive. I'm going to see if hooking Alexa to the stereo via bluetooth instead of audio jack does anything.

Switching the audio output from the analog output to a Bluetooth adapter seems to have fixed the problem, or more succinctly, it’s an acceptable workaround. So far so good.
