Add command to routine
« on: May 20, 2018, 08:25:30 am »

I have a routine which starts when I say "Alexa, goodnight" and does the following:

Turn Off : Entertainment Centre
Say "Goodnight"

I want to insert after Say "Goodnight":

"Alexa, Screen off"

but I just can't see how to do this - the "Add action" command doesn't give this option.

Can anybody give me a steer on this please?

PS - I just ran a spell check using the button below this and it doesn't recognise "Alexa" :-)

Unfortunately at this point in time there is no way to add a custom command to a routine. It would seem Amazon could allow users to create a routine where the user can just type in any phrase that would normally be spoken to Alexa. It seems logical and easy to implement such a feature. Right now all we can do is wait and hope Amazon adds something like this.

Many thanks jwlv :-)

Pity but perhaps programming will become more sophisticated over time.

OP what you want can be done by follow up mode. As long as you turn it on.

After your routine you can just say screen off.

I still have to get the hang of it I am used to saying Alexa before anything.

I only remember not to say Alexa when I'm doing shopping list.
