How do I set up a radio station on echo plus?
« on: May 29, 2018, 05:16:47 pm »
Hi,
I'm trying to listen to Elixir FM Malaga from the UK using the echo. I cant get the device to recognise the station and when I tap it into Tunein it doesn't get any results. Is there any way I can manually add the radio station URL to the echo? It's one of the main reasons bought the thing!

Doesn’t seem to be available on TuneIn. You could download the radio.net app to your phone and then connect to your Echo by Bluetooth.

Thanks Alan,
So essentially simply use the Echo as a bluetooth speaker?

I think in this case, yes. It’s unfortunate that not every online station is available on TuneIn. Hopefully, adding a custom URL is something that can be offered by TuneIn on Echo at a later date.

I'm in the UK. Couldn't get it on Radioplayer either. Also had real trouble with pronunciation - kept on looking for Alexia FM. Does it have a station number because that might help.

It’s obviously a niche station and not available on TuneIn. Your only option is to download a streaming app and use your Echo as a BT speaker.

I do this using the MyPod skill. You add URLs to the skill’s website and name them, then you can ask Alexa to play them. Works like a charm.

If your voice command won't find a radio station in TuneIn which you knowis there, then you can go into the Alexa app and choose it from TuneIn manually.

I am not sure of the best way to launch the TuneIn station list within the Alexa app but the way I do it is to go to the voice command history (using the Home button at the bottom) and find a previous TuneIn station I started previously.  There is a link there to launch the TuneIn station list within the Alexa app.

Is there an easier way than this, anyone?

The station starts playing on the Echo speaker as soon as it is touched in the radio station list.

You can save radio stations as Favourites.

To view the complete station list, select Music & Books from the main menu, then TuneIn and then browse the list.

Thanks for that. Just added a station that isn't on Tunein that I've been wanting to listen to on my Echo for ages.
