when calling a phone is there a way to send the # key or extension

I'm trying to setup my Echo to call the ymca to check for pool closings. When they don't answer, I get an option to dial an extension by entering a phone number or the # key followed by a name.

Is there a way by speech (not using the alexa app in my android pone) to control the "phone keypad" so I can say, for example something like, "send pound sign" or "send 299" for extension 299.

You got echo connect/calling feature on that one.  If you already know the extension try adding extension# after phone#.

But only echo support can tell you if it's doable or not. Chances are they also don't know. LOL.

After some trial and error, it seems that saying "press pound sign" will work. I even got it to take an extension that way, so the magic word seems to be press.

What is needed is to be able to ask alexa for help with these sorts of issues, but I haven't found a way to do that yet.
