Alexa, Routines and Harmony Hub

Hopefully this is simple, but I can't get Alexa to turn off the TV as part of a routine.  I use a Harmony Hub and I always have to ask Alexa to "ask Harmony" to do anything with the TV, is that the problem?

Otherwise I feel like I have tried so many options and Alexa does not want to turn off the TV as part of a routine.  Everything else it turns off just fine, but won't turn off the TV.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Interesting.  I do not have to say "ask Harmony" to turn on the tv.  All I do is say, "Alexa, Turn on the TV", and the harmony hub turns it on.

I have a routine for when I go to bed called "Bedtime".  Alexa will:

• Turn on all lights to my bedroom
  
• Turn off the TV
• Set Alexa volume to 5
• Report the weather
• and say "Good Night.  Talk to you later"

Try the command "Alexa, Turn on the TV".  If that works, then I can walk you through the rest.

Yes, the command "Alexa turn on the TV" does work.  It turns on the TV and the Directv box.  I cannot get Alexa to change channels without the "tell Harmony" prompt, though.

Ok great!  Now when you set up your actions do the following:

1. Select Smart Home
2. Select Control Scene
3. Select Television
4. Select whether to Turn On or Turn Off Television


Tada!  Easy as that.

There are still two different Harmony skills in the Alexa app. You'll want to be sure you've enabled the one that's listed as "Optimized for Smart Home." The blue one.
