Buy Echo in US to use in France

Hi guys,
I live in the US and my parents who live in France are coming to visit me for the Holidays.
I'd like to buy Echo dot here in the US and gift it to them when they are here.
My question is: Will the Echo dot bought in the US work in France?

Yeah should be ok, as they can change the location and language to french when they set it up, although they will loss any US only features like whisper mode when they move it to France.

It's also worth noting that if you buy the device from Amazon, I would tick the gift option as otherwise amazon will pre-set the device to your account and it will have to be reset to use in France.
