Amazon echo acts weird and pulsates light and dark blue

My echo won’t respond to me 1-5 hours after being plugged in and just goes light blue, dark blue, light blue And then the led ring goes dark

Sounds like the blue ring of death.  Did you spill something on it?  How old is it?

Do you have a external speaker plugged in to the Echo that's not turned on or perhaps not connected properly.

I can't check right now, but that's sounds like (NPI) what mine does when someone (me) accidentally turns off the surround sound system or changes the input source. The Echo doesn't know that the external speaker is off, it just pushes the response out of the port into the abyss.
