Dot Hot ?

My Sister picked up a dot and saying her's gets pretty hot, says alot of users are reporting this to amazon, supposely the device does'nt have proper ventillation, she ordered a cast iron trivet to put it on, this seems extreme, Dot users here how Hot is your Dot ?

Got my two on coasters, but getting something to allow ventilation would be good, although if not mistaken, doesn't it have the same bottom as Alexa?

Lots of comments here already about Hot Dots.  Solution is put it on a coaster or something similar.  If Dot is playing music through audio out it really gets hot, so more than one coaster is necessary.  I now have mine sitting on an upside-down curved wooden coaster so it is above furniture by over a quarter of an inch.  It's basically on a mini pedestal. 

I would think a cast iron trivet would conduct heat right through it to furniture and continue to get hotter.  Your sister knows best how it is working to dissipate the heat.
