Echo Dot Kids - Can't find device in app and the dreaded Spotify issue

I just set up my child's Echo Dot for Kids (2nd gen) and I have two
issues as listed:

1.) The device is not showing up in my Alexa app under devices.

2.) Alexa cannot find any songs/playlists that we request it to play
through Spotify, even though it says it is connected to my child's
Spotify account. (I did not connect Spotify to my child's account, so I do
not know how it connected to that specific account either.)

Any assistance in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated!
