What audio formats are supported by 3rd gen Echo?
« on: April 26, 2020, 01:45:11 pm »
I am considering getting a 3rd gen Echo to use as a bluetooth speaker paired with my PC.  I know that audio associated with videos is often a different format than pure music audios.  Can anyone tell me what audio formats are supported by the 3rd gen Echo?  Or if anyone has had success watching a video using VLC, with the audio passed to the Echo?

Thank you,  S

don't make a difference if it is a bluetooth connection.  it is the pc that is playing, not the echo.  the echo is just a speaker when connected to bluetooth.

:) Thank you so much.  I wouldn't have thought of that myself, but it makes sense.   S

another option is to use your wifi instead.   you can use a utility such as my media or plex,  and play your music from your pc to the echo.   this way you can use alexa voice commands for your music.  mymedia is not free.  about five bucks a year.   I don't know about plex.    I know about mymedia because I used to use it.
