Alexa talks to much

I have whisper and brief turned on, but my Alexa still sometimes talks to much after a command was given. Notifications are also turned off. It also doesn't seem to know how to whisper. I verified settings today.

you need to be more specific as to what it is saying.  is it by the way mess or something else.   in general, there is nothing you can do except to send feedback everytime it happens.   the more feedback amazon gets, the better chance of them changing it.

Not that I'm proud of my language but I have found that when the "by the ways" start that if I swear up a storm at it, it promptly shuts up and it generally takes a long while for it to start that nonsense again.
If amazon is trying to drive us to their competitors with things like this, "alexa for your day", loss of text messaging, and the loud bluetooth announcements then they are doing a great job.
