Echo Guard Mode does not detect security alarm
« on: August 11, 2021, 03:05:00 pm »
I have tested the Alexa Echo Guard mode for glass break, smoke alarm, and security system alarm sounds.  It detected the sound of breaking glass and the sound of a battery operated smoke detector and sent my mobile phone an alert message.  But it did not react to the sound of my hard wired security system alarm which has a louder but different sound than a smoke detector.  Unfortunately I have 2 hard wired smoke detectors on my security system and echo did not react to that audible alarm which is louder than the battery operated smoke alarm.  Is it by design that Echo Guard does not react to a Security Break-in alarm?

I don't know for sure, but Amazon says Alexa Echo Guard can "detect specific sounds you select, such as the sound of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and glass breaking." It does not say anything about security alarms/sirens.

I think only the ring alarm system will detect the other sounds when linked to guard.
