Using Alexa with two premium music services.
« on: January 08, 2022, 05:51:31 pm »
O.K

I love my music.

i have deezer ( mainly for car ) and Spotify for home.

Both premium.

So, recently I thought I would add add  my Spotify service to the echo auto in my car.
Went fine on the Alexa app - but  using both services seems very hit and miss?
Anyone else experienced this?
I have uninstalled/ installed the apps ( and alexa ) several times.
Sometimes Deezer will work  OTB, yet Spotify says to ''restart the app''??
Other times it is reversed?
Sometimes, Spotify or Deezer refuses to be the default player.
I think the problem seems to stem from trying to use another music service whilst another one is playing- alexa gets a bit confused.
I have found that if . for example I am playing tracks on deezer, and want to then play the next track on Spotify, I need to ask alexa to stop the Deezer track and then I ask for a track from Spotify.
This seems to work most of the time.

Anyone else had this sort of thing? ( I realise two premium music services is a bit OTT, but I do love my music:-)

What are you saying to Alexa to play your tunes? When you have multiple music services, you should add "... from Deezer or Spotify" at the end of your request. E.g. Alexa, play Lady Gaga from Spotify. If you don't specify what music service you want, Alexa will choose one for you and it might not be the one you want.

HI,

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I understand the commands :-)
I have tried making either Spotify or Deezer as default ( i.e not having to say ''from spotify or from  deezer '')
Makes no difference when I then change to the other service by specifing it in the command

Strange eh?

assume the default is the last music service that was used.   that is why it is best to give the name of the service when regularly using more than one.
