"New Alexa App"

When I login to my Alexa App, there is a message that I need to update the app by downloading and installing the Alexa app from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Is this something I should do? If I do, would my existing Alexa settings be retained or would I have to set everything up again from scratch. Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

I've never had a problem on either iPadOS or Android.  Your settings, routines etc are stored in "The Cloud" and should appear whenever you log into an Alexa device/app

go to the play store and see if there is an update available in the manage apps & device section.
