Networking multiple echo devices
« on: June 27, 2016, 03:38:19 pm »
I'm new here and I joined for the sole purpose of researching what I believe is the biggest advancement the echo could make, networking multiple devices.

Step 1 - Just give us the ability to link our echos together.

Step 2 - I envision a group products composed of a mic and speaker (The mic portion being able to be switched on and off) which could be placed in every room of a home which would connect to a "master/centralized" alexa unit.

You could...
whole-house or zoned music
whole-house intercom
ask Alexa something from anywhere in the home
mount the units on a wall or ceiling
you could set up surround sound systems with the units

At least to me networking multiple devises seems like a huge advancement, but I don't seem much about it.

Also my Dot is connect to a Surround sound system.
I use 2 FireTVs and Firestick to handle my smart devices instead of heading to my Echo or Dot.

This is what one can do while we wait:  Say you want to hear music on your Echo from your NAS or iTunes.  Connect the PC to any Echo device via BT.  Start playing music from anywhere on your network to the BT receiver in an Echo device to hear it on that device.
