prime music won't play on alexa echo

I ask alexa to play prime music and it says I must have prime membership which I do. It still however tells me to go to amazon.com/prime..I've heard that some were told to unplug alexa then plug back in and that does nothing. Any other bright ideas.

Some people may have several Amazon accounts.
In my household of 4 people, we have six Amazon accounts. Only one has Amazon Prime that we pay $99.99/year.
If you have several Amazon accounts, you should set up your Echo with the one that has Prime. I believe all Echoes are shipped with the member's account already setup. If that account isn't the one that has Prime service, then you'll need to change it. It used to be Echoes came with 1 month free of Prime service. After that, the Prime service ends unless you pay for it. I don't know if Amazon is still doing the same.

Why do you accuse Amazon of bait and switch?  How tacky.  Maybe you did something wrong, so call their customer service number and get some help?

you must not be giving the proper commands.  since you are using more than one service, you may need to be more specific to keep the echo from getting confused.  please give an example of a command you are using.

you are asking for the song from prime music, not from my music.   it was my music you uploaded your music to.   the reason you are asking to sign up for unlimited is the song you are asking for is only available from  the unlimited account.

you are asking for the song from prime music, not from my music.   it was my music you uploaded your music to.   the reason you are asking to sign up for unlimited is the song you are asking for is only available from  the unlimited account.

I can say the exact same thing to the other alexas and they play prime just fine

I use following sentence to specify song or folder within my Prime Music Account:

"Alexa play "song/folder name" from 'My Amazon Library' Playlist"

it plays my uploaded music fine -- it won't play anything from prime music -- I can say play prime music or play top pop from prime music -- nothing

No one here seems able to solve your problem.  Have you followed my suggestion above and contacted Amazon Echo Customer Support by phone directly and toll-free at 1-877-375-9365 ?

Well that was simple. Prime music is ONLY available to the prime member and is NOT shared with family. So Echo simply needed to be told to switch users "echo switch user" and it then names who is "connected". So when echo is connected to my wife I can say play prime music or play pop music and it does just fine. If I want to play my uploaded music I simple switch users.... now I should probably load all my music into my wife account but that another story

Yep, that's how it works. Both my wife and I have Amazon accounts but only mine is prime. We have 4 dots in the house ALL signed in to my account. I have made numerous playlists and everything works just fine.

I say "switch users". Alexa says " there is only 1 user connected to this account". I even tried unplugging the echo and plugging after 10 mins. Didn't work. Alexa doesn't recognize my prime account at all. This started when I purchased an echo dot recently for my dad.
"Alexa play songs" also doesn't help.

Any help appreciated
