One thing to keep in mind:

The remote is now sold separately

First off I missed the 100 price level, and now the day I am supposed to get mine, they release it for July 14 at 180 minus the remote. What was the point of selling it for 150 with the remote. (if indeed it is with the remote)

The reason they have 18,000 reviews already is because those of us who have had ours since the invitations were issued (I've had mine since December 6th), were asked to write reviews a few days ago.
What blows me away is I didn't realize how many people had it so far. I'm sure a bunch went to industry insiders for evaluation purposes as well as the others that developers used.

If you were invited to purchase an Echo, you got a discount. Right now, the Echo is priced at $179.99 without the remote. If you want the remote, the total cost would be $209.98 ($179.99 + $29.99).
I assume that all of the people who were invited will get the remote as part of the package. Even if it's not included, invited purchasers either got the $99.99 price or the $149.99 price, which is still less than the current $179.99 (or $209.98 w/ the remote) price.

Wow-that's a sticky wicket. I guess the only way to prove you got an invitation is to take a screen shot and then go to Amazon CS to make sure you get yours with the remote. They should have the timestamp as to when the invitation was initiated so that would be your proof.
Ours came with the remote.

I wasn't complaining about the price, really! I was just wishing more time to play with it before the release date. I got the remote and a nice box.  ;)
