Control Echo's LED lights

I'm looking for a way to control the LED lights on the top of the Echo.  Currently you get a blue ring then when you speak green LED's will 'point' in the direction of the sound.  I would like to be able to control when and where the LED lights on the Echo... I've seen this done I'm just not sure how they accomplished it.
