Best NON Prime Music App for Echo

We bought my mother in law the Echo but she doesn't have Prime.  I set up her Pandora account on the Echo but you can't request to play a artist or genre unless you have it already listed as a Pandora station.  I have Prime and just say play "country" or play "Lady Gaga" and it plays it.  Is there any other music app that can do what Prime music does?

For prime features, you need to pay for Prime. Or some other subscrip service. No way around it at this time.

I barely use Prime music, I prefer Tunein radio and added certain stations to my Tunein favorites.  Sorry, no requests, though.

I do not have an Amazon acct per se.  Just an account to set up my DOT & Alexa app.  I use iTunes to select my music as I have a huge selection of music I've downloaded through the years. 
iTunes is on my computer & same is connected to the DOT by bluetooth (I do not own any mobile devices).
iTunes - DOT does allow me to select & play a artist or genre of my choosing.

Yep, iTunes works well and since I have a 24/7 home NAS (file server) as well as mobile devices, I do not need a computer turned on -- I can select the music from my server on a phone app and play it via BT to any BT device, incl. Dots, BT speakers, etc.
