Sorry...The Network Device is Not Responding...
« on: February 20, 2017, 01:17:56 pm »
I get this all the time even when it HAS just done what I asked!

What's up with that?

Me: "Alexa, turn on Bedroom"

Bedroom light comes on.

Alexa: "Sorry.  the Device bedroom is not responding."

I can sometimes get this comment, too.  Usually if I ask a command too quickly after another command.  It's likely because two control systems (Alexa's and smart device's) are at work.

Sounds like your wireless signal is a bit weak, delayed.  If you haven't rebooted your modem/router lately this is a good time to do so.  It won't hurt, and it may help.

I have 3 full size Echos and one Dot. They've been working well for months...

Suddenly in the last couple of days nothing works properly. I've rebooted wifi, Echos, deleted and re-detected devices. It's suddenly all a mess.

Ready to pull them all out and sell the lot of 'em.

Well, if you want to sell them, go ahead; no one really cares what you do with them.

But, if you want to get them to work right again, then unplug your Alexa devices for 5-plus minutes, and while they are off, reboot your modem/router.  Plug the devices back in after five minutes and your router should also be back working by then.  If things are not working better now, I would say you have wireless signal issues you need to figure out and fix.

I don't get this particular message but several times I've opened the Alexa app to see a message that says my Echo Dot is offline (or maybe it says my Alexa app is offline) but you can still see your shopping and to do list.  But, the Dots are still working.

Have you called technical support?  If not, why not?

Mine does the exact same thing on occasions. Part of the growing pains I guess.

Agree.  I also think what happens is the app that turns on/off lights when you use Alexa is just delayed when contacting Alexa some times.  Remember, Alexa is not doing all the turning on and off, it is the particular app that Alexa must communicate with and Alexa may get a delayed reply from app.  Relax, people; it's all working fine.  Bottom line is, do lights go on and off, regardless of the feedback response, and they do.
