Alexa not 'happy' about 'new year'

I've had Merry Christmas ad infinitum, good morning notifications about dates and events I never knew existed, and countless happy birthdays for long dead people, but this morning - no Happy New Year. Sitting on a pavement with a hangover and one shoe missing trying to get Siri to phone her a cab, probably

well, I told alexa happy new year and she said happy new year as well  :-)  no signs of a hangover from her.
