Pairing a remote takes longer than Amazon suggests

I've paired two remotes with two Echos and each time the instructions say to press the Play button for 5 seconds to pair them. I've found that you actually have to hold it down for about 30 seconds to get the remote to pair.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine works as advertised.

Hold the play button for five seconds.

Pairs in about twenty seconds after that.

As they state after you hold it down and release after the five seconds it can take up to forty seconds to pair.
